If you're in the Tri-State area, I hope you can make it! So excited for #ClimateWeekNYC and the voices that'll be featured. of Al-Munir, Christian Rodriguez of Ironbound Community Corporation, Alexander Rodriguez of Save the Sound, Doreen Abubakar of CPEN, and Schandra Madha of Common Ground, New Haven Ecology Project. The 11 featured changemakers are Jennifer Seda and Xóchitl Garcia, as well as Amanda Lily Appelson of Plantega, Hailey Miranda of We Stay Nos Quedamos Inc, Nathaly Agosto Filion of the Newark Green Team, Anthony Diaz of Newark Water Coalition, Bilal Walker, M.A. From 6:30-9:00pm, join me and 100 others as we preview clips from the 11 upcoming episodes of Drawdown's Neighborhood, featuring 11 BIPOC climate heroes from Newark, NJ New Haven, CT and New York, NY (the Bronx). On Friday, I'm proud to conclude Climate Week festivities with the special preview screening celebration of Drawdown's Neighborhood: Tri-State at the Marketplace of the Future, organized by Amer Jandali and Future Meets Present. We'll help people discover their own stories and the importance of environmental justice stories overall. This will be followed by a breakout called "Amplifying Environmental Origin Stories", hosted by Justin Cadelago and Kiani from Imagine5, me and Drew of Project Drawdown, and Jothsna of Change Narrative. On Thursday, I'll be on the main stage at the Nest Summit for "The Art and Science of Storytelling for Climate Action and Climate Justice" panel co-hosted by me and the iconic Kiana Kazemi of Imagine5, and featuring Clara and Josh as well as Nelson ZePequeno of Black Men With Gardens, and Aditi Mayer of Imagine5. This will feature my teammates Jothsna Harris and Drew Arrieta as co-moderators, and some of our Drawdown's Neighborhood series interviewees: Xóchitl García of Save the Sound and Jennifer Seda of the Bronx River Alliance as panelists and Clara Kitongo, MSPPM of Tree Pittsburgh and Josh Benitez of Common Ground Relief as performers. On Wednesday, I'll be kicking off a panel called "Narratives of Change" at the Ingka Group's Action Speaks Summit. That's why it means the world to me to be able to "pass the mic" at Climate Week NYC 2023, and to have space for the voices and stories of BIPOC climate heroes through the work we do at Project Drawdown. The communities first and worst impacted by the climate crisis – including Black communities, Indigenous communities, and communities of color – are also often the least represented in climate conversations.
